Litter Receptacles (Public)

Litter ReceptacleDPW maintains about 3,500 litter receptacles in the city. These receptacles are placed along busy commercial corridors, plazas, bus stops, and parks so people walking down the street or waiting for a bus have a place to toss gum wrappers, coffee cups, and other “casual litter.”

These litter receptacles are for public trash only. Placing household trash in public litter receptacles violates the Municipal Police Code 35A and you may be fined up to $300.

If receptacles are oveflowing, a target of illegal dumping or are defective, please report to 311.
